Kirsten Gurka
Budget Analyst
Kirsten is a Budget Analyst for the Weather Program Office (WPO). She comes to us from the National Weather Service where she kicked off her federal career over 18 years ago. Kirsten has a wealth of experience in budget management, planning and execution, grants and contract management, and program planning and support.
For the past three years, she served as the Portfolio Budget Officer for the NWS’ Office of Dissemination which included management and oversight of a $110M budget. Prior to that, Kirsten spent five years supporting the NWS’ Office of the Chief Learning Officer (OCLO) as the Lead Budget Analyst, while also serving as a COR on multiple contracts and as a Federal Program Officer for UCAR’s COMET program.
Kirsten is a proud Penn Stater with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her family, skiing, tennis, and long walks with her two beagles.
