Portfolio Analysis and Transition (PART) Lead

Dr. Castle Williamsberg (he/him) joined the Weather Program Office in 2020, serving as the Social Science Research to Applications Coordinator for four years. In late 2024, he transitioned to the Portfolio Analysis and Research Transition (PART) Program as the Portfolio Analysis and Transition Lead. In this role, Castle leads office-wide, cross-divisional efforts to transition social, behavioral, and economic science research, ensuring valuable findings translate into real-world impact. He also conducts portfolio analyses and evaluation assessments to examine WPO’s research and development portfolio, providing data-driven insights that identify gaps, inform strategic priorities, and support leadership decision-making.

Drawing from his firsthand experience with the NOAA grant process and research transitions as an academic researcher, Castle brings deep expertise and a passion for improving the research transition process, helping researchers translate their findings into practice.

Dr. Williamsberg holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Georgia, as well as dual B.S. degrees in Geography and Psychology and a certificate in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Georgia.
