JTTI Program Manager

Dr. Chandra Kondragunta is the Program Manager for the Joint Technology Transfer Initiative (JTTI) in the Weather Program Office (WPO), Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR).  As the JTTI Program Manager, he manages a $20M research to operations budget to transition matured weather technologies from the American Weather Enterprise to the National Weather Service (NWS) operations.   

Dr. Kondragunta has 23 years of federal service.  Prior to joining WPO, he served as Project Manager and Contracting Officer Representative at NESDIS and NWS.  Prior to joining NOAA as a Federal employee, he worked as a Research Scientist for the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, Research Associate for the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, and as a contractor for the Goddard Space Flight Center (NASA), Greenbelt, MD.  He published several papers in peer reviewed scientific journals and conference proceedings.  

Dr. Kondragunta has a B.Sc in Physics, an M.Sc. in Meteorology – both from India – and a Ph.D. in Meteorology from the University of Hawaii, USA.  He lives in Clarksville, MD with his wife and two grown up children.  He likes to hike in his leisure time.
