Gina Eosco is the Director of the NOAA Weather Program Office (WPO). She also serves the Science, Technology, and Society Division Chief where her focus is on prioritizing social and behavioral science (SBS) research needs within the weather community, determining ways to translate social science research into application, and learning from operational meteorologists and practitioners to understand the next research challenge.
She is a social scientist and risk communication expert who joined the Weather Program Office at NOAA as the WPO Social Science and the Forecasting a Continuum of Environmental Threats (FACETS) programs. Her work has ensured that weather warnings are not just accurate but also clear and actionable, helping to better protect the public and furthering NOAA’s mission.
