Gina Eosco is the new WPO Director and was formerly Division Chief for Science, Technology, and Society. In that role, she oversaw an interdisciplinary set of WPO programs including the Testbeds, VORTEX, and Social Science Programs, as well as the Joint Technology Transfer Initiative. The Division ensures that research and development projects are useful, usable, and used through co-development and transitioning research into applications.

Prior to being Division Chief, Eosco led the expansive growth of the WPO Social Science Program, with an emphasis on social science data and instrument publication and the human dimensions of weather science, forecasts, and services. Broadly, her expertise is in interdisciplinary science with a focus on weather risk, science, and visual communication.

Eosco joined the predecessor of WPO, the Office of Weather and Air Quality, in 2017. She earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in weather risk communication from Cornell University, and a B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Maryland.
