Technical Writer/Editor & Communications Specialist

Justin Gehrts is a contractor supporting the NOAA Weather Program Office as a technical writer and communications specialist.

Before joining WPO, Justin was a weather content producer for Spectrum News’ digital platforms, informing people around the country about weather and climate-related stories. He was also a broadcast meteorologist for over a decade, serving communities in Illinois, Iowa, and Ohio.

Justin participated in the GOES-R satellite Hazardous Weather Testbed for broadcast meteorologists in 2015 and the Weather and Society–Integrated Studies workshop in 2011.

Justin earned his B.S. degree in meteorology from Iowa State University in 2007. He is a member of the National Weather Association (NWA) and American Meteorological Society (AMS) and holds the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation.
