Research Policy Analyst

Dr. Margaret Orr Hoeflich is a contractor supporting the Earth System Research and Modeling division as part of the Subseasonal to Seasonal Program. Margaret’s background is in the interdisciplinary bridge between weather and communication, which she is excited to bring to the S2S team! Before becoming part of WPO in 2024, Margaret worked as a graduate assistant, doing research on climate models, climate change psychology, and climate change misinformation; and teaching a variety of classes from Geography Lab to Communication Research Methods. She was also a 2020 William M. Lapenta intern with NOAA’s Climate Program Office.

Margaret holds a B.S. in Meteorology & Climatology from the University of Delaware, an M.S. in Geography from the University of Georgia, and a Ph.D. in Communication from George Mason University, where she worked with the renowned Center for Climate Change Communication.
