Division Chief – Observations and Research Support

ogram Office (WPO), spent his career in both the private and public sector where he focused on transitioning research and development activities to application. He comes to WPO from the NOAA Technology Partnerships Office where he served as the Technology Transfer Program Manager. In that role, he was responsible for transitioning NOAA research to commercial applications and managing Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs).

Previously, Wayne spent time within NESDIS where he led the development of satellite ground system data processing projects for GOES-R and JPSS. Wayne was also product manager for two different startup companies focused on data processing and cloud migration, and spent several years at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) developing satellite algorithms for meteorological aviation products.

Wayne was previously a broadcast meteorologist in Huntsville, AL and taught meteorology at a local community college. In his spare time you can find Wayne up in the skies flying airplanes and on stage performing comedic improv. He holds an M.B.A. from American Public University, an M.S. in Atmospheric Science from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and a B.S. in Meteorology from Millersville University.
