JTTI Deputy Program Manager

Aaron Pratt is supporting the Weather Program Office (WPO) as the Joint Technology Transfer Initiative (JTTI) Deputy Program Manager. His role involves coordinating over 60 research projects and guiding them toward transition to NWS operations. Before joining WPO, Aaron worked as a research scientist within the Technology, Planning, and Integration for Observation (TPIO) division within NOAA’s National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS). His work in TPIO focused on developing and utilizing the NOAA Observing System Integrated Analysis (NOSIA) decision support model for NOAA leadership to manage their observing system and product portfolios. Aaron has supported the Joint Center for Satellite Data Assimilation (JCSDA) as scientific analyst providing meteorological and computational support to investigators using JCSDA’s research supercomputers. Aaron is also conducted postdoctoral research at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

Aaron has a B.S. in meteorology from North Carolina State University, a M.S. in meteorology from Pennsylvania State University, and a PhD in atmospheric science from Howard University. He is truly overjoyed and considers it an honor to be able to support researchers and investigators transition their important work to NWS so that they can continually improve and grow in their mission to save lives and reduce property damage.
