Dr. Kimberly Wood is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geosciences at Mississippi State University specializing in tropical meteorology. Dr. Wood’s research interests include environmental influences on tropical cyclone structure and intensity change as well as factors impacting tropical cyclone activity over the course of a season. Much of their work relies on remotely-sensed observations, reanalysis datasets, and open-source tools such as the Python programming language. Active professional service roles include the American Meteorological Society’s Weather Analysis and Forecasting Committee, the Unidata Strategic Advisory Committee, and the Southeast Chapter of the Fifth National Climate Assessment. Dr. Wood holds an H.B.S in physics from Oregon State University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in atmospheric sciences from the University of Arizona.
