Mark Olsen

S2S Program Manager

Mark is the Program Manager of WPO’s Subseasonal to Seasonal program supporting NOAA’s goal of a Weather-Ready Nation by enabling and coordinating research to improve the predictive capability across time scales that bridge weather and climate.

Prior to joining WPO, Mark was a research scientist working under a cooperative agreement at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in the Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics Laboratory. His research focused on tropospheric and stratospheric dynamics and constituent transport using observational data and model analysis.  He also worked closely with NASA’s Global Modeling and Assimilation Office on projects to increase the capability of satellite data assimilation and to improve modeled transport. Mark obtained a Physics B.S. from the University of Northern Iowa and his PhD in Physics from Iowa State University.
